Crooks is the black man that lives in the barn with all the animals. He is probably one of the loneliest characters in the book, he doesn’t want anyone around him and likes to be alone he is always excluded from everything the white men get to do because he is black. Crooks is always alone while the other men play cards in the bunkhouse and he is always in a bad mood towards everyone. “‘They play cards in there, but I can’t play because I’m black.
