The movie “Good Will Hunting” is about a genius leveled young janitor, Will Hunting who gets discovered to be a math whiz by a professor. One day a professor named Gerald Lambeau writes two complex math problems on the board for his students to solve. This is how professor Gerald Lambeau discovers the janitor Will Hunting has solved the equations. At the same time, it is discovered that Will Hunting has assaulted a police officer therefore, he gets himself in trouble with the law. Luckily, Gerald Lambeau negotiates a deal with Will Hunting’s judge in order to keep this young man out of prison. Gerald Lambeau’s proposal is for Will Hunting to assist him every week for his math class as well as receive therapy on the side. Will Hunting agrees to these proposal however, due to his abandonment issues he never wants to let anyone get close to him. Therefore, the character goes through a variety of therapists because he is purposely sabotaging his therapy sessions. An example of logos is when Sean Maguire tells Will Hunting, “You're an orphan, right? Do you think I'd know the first thing about how hard your life has been, how you feel, who you are, 'cause I read Oliver Twist? Does that encapsulate you?” (Good Will Hunting). Sean Maguire is saying to Will Hunting, that although he has read a book about being an orphan that does not mean he has the faintest idea about Will Hunting’s life. The only way for Sean Maguire to learn about Will Hunting’s life struggles is for Will Hunting to actually discuss them. Which Sean Maguire states in this quotation “ I can’t learn anything from you I can’t read in some f---in’ book. Unless you want to talk about you, who you are.” (Good Will Hunting).
