Americans life expectancy has increased over the last few years, and as of 2015 Americans can expect to live an average of 78.7 years (Center for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC] 2017). Over the next 33 years, the United States elderly population is expected to be around 83.7 million adults, that is nearly double what it was in 2012 (43.1 million) (CDC, 2017).
