Cells are the building blocks of all living organisms. Human bodies contain billions of different types of cells including skin cells, muscle cells, bone cells, and brain cells. Most of the cells in the human body are specialized and designed to perform specific functions within s particular part of the body. Once human cells die, they are irreplaceable and too much death of cells causes damage of their origin body part. However, certain cells of the body contain specialized characteristic in that they can repair after moderated damages. These cells, the stem cells, are found in places such as the bone marrow, the brain, liver, and skin and they are capable of renewing themselves through cell division, (Kadota, …show more content…
In addition to being life threatening, skin burns can develop into deep scare interfering with the normal functioning of the individual. Nervous and brain diseases such as Alzheimer that killed the cells of the brain causing the culprit to experience severe loss of memory can benefit from stem cells research (Forman, 24). Since Alzheimer affects the life of the individual in an extreme level that the individual cannot perform small tasks, scientists have the idea that stem cell therapy will not only help in stopping the condition of the disease but also it will restore the victim’s ability to lead a normal life. Other potential beneficiaries of stem cell research are individual experiencing spinal cord problem. Stem cell therapy could help in repairing of the damaged spinal cord giving the individual the ability to walk once more.
Stem cells present in the embryo provides additional information concerning the normal development of the foetus. Stem cell research could provide new awareness into how human bodies grow in the uterus. The information collected from the growth of the foetus can be applied to prevent certain abnormalities such as brain defects that cause the development of abnormal behaviour or lower the level of intelligence. Thus, this information can help doctors and medical experts to correct certain developmental problems even before the child is
