Cimorene and her parents had gone on a crusade to the kingdom Sathem-by-the-mountains when her parents had decided to spring a marriage on her. On page 7 it states, “‘ I don’t want to marry Prince Therandil,’ Cimorene said. ‘Well, it’s not exactly a brilliant match,’ Cimorene’s father said, frowning. “But I didn’t think you’d care how big his kingdom is.’ ‘It’s the prince I don’t care for,’ Cimorene said. ‘That’s a great pity, dear, but it can’t be helped,’ Cimorene’s mother said placidly. ‘I’m afraid it isn’t likely that you’ll get another offer.’” This shows us that Cimorene didn’t want to marry Prince Therandil but her parents held little regard for her feeling since that would seem to be her only offer of marriage. This also tells us that her parents seem to think that Cimorene only cares about the size of the kingdom when she really doesn’t care at all about getting married to the gallant prince nor the size of his pitiful kingdom. Cimorene is still in the kingdom of Sathem and she is arguing with her parents because her feelings were unrequited towards the marriage with Prince Therandil so she decided to find a way out. “‘Well,’ said the frog, ‘what are you going to do about it?’ ‘Marrying Therandil? I don’t know. I’ve tried talking to my parents, but they won't listen, and neither will Therandi.’...The frog munched briefly, then swallowed and said, ‘I suppose there’s no help for it. You’ll have to run away. ‘Run away?” Cimorene said. “I don’t like that idea. Too many things could go wrong.’ ‘You don’t like the idea of marrying Prince Therandil, either,’ the frog pointed out.” This shows that Cimorene who did not want to marry Prince Therandil has decided to take the advice of a frog that she had found in the castle. This also tells us that Cimorene’s parents hold
