In the Bible, God tells all of us to live lives of faith under Him and to acknowledge Him as the one and true God. However, God does not say to force your religion onto others, but instead to show them the way of Christ and give them the choice to follow or turn away from God. During his early priesthood after WWII, Saint John Paul II refused to baptize a number of young children. These were children who had been ripped from their Jewish families and ways of life and been moved into Catholic homes. Because of the Holocaust, this was fairly common, so he refused to baptize these children until they could make the choice for themselves. Although this went against the actions that were commonly accepted at the time, it truly showed the presence of God within him to step out against the actions of the time and do what he believed God wanted him to do. This branched further into his actions against Communism, as it did the same thing he was trying to stop.
