Personal Narrative: Moving To America

It was 1884, when the Law of Religion was passed. The law didn't allow citizens of Poland to practice their own religion. My parents were furious, especially my father who was a preacher at the town Church of God. So, my parents allowed that my sister, Lena, and I would move to America with them. It was going to be a long journey, this I already knew. It was freezing outside and as much as I loved going to church I wasn't ready to walk forever to the train station in 20 degree weather all so I could go to church. My family and I are Christians, we believe in Jesus Christ, however the leader of Poland didn't. My father had big plans to start a church in America, which was great but I highly doubt the Americans are going to drop their church …show more content…
My family would soon be able to practice the religion we pleased.

“Julia” my mother exclaimed, “Are your totes packed? They better be!” I had to catch myself before rolling my eyes, my mother treated me like such a child. Of course my totes are packed, I'm ready to be in America as much as she is. I carried my bags to the front door so that they were very well visible. I had two totes, one velvet textured and green like fresh grass; and the other bright red and made of cloth. They weren't very big totes, but I managed to pack what I needed. I waited on the rest of my family for about half an hour. The excitement was building up inside, I was kinda getting flustered with my family for rushing me and then taking their precious time. My family isn’t very considerate at times. My sister, being 17, hardly ever got lectures or spankings. However, I got

However, I was starving and this time I was going to do something about it. I begged Lena to sneak up to the deck of the boat where first and second class ate their food. Of course, my sister said no because she never does anything wrong and she considers herself the angel child. I decided to go by myself, that's how great my hunger was. I had stuck up to the top deck with no complications until someone spotted me, a little girl who was maybe 5 or 6. The little girl came running to me and whispered “This is for you, God bless you,” holding out her hand with a few pieces of candy in her palm. She spoke in French but I knew French from my 7th grade foreign language class. My mom had suggested that I take the class because we vacationed in Italy often. I hoped to return to Italy one day, maybe America would allow my family to vacation there. I continued to stand in shock that the first class little girl was so kind to give me candy. My family couldn’t afford candy, and if so we only got one piece. I decided that since I had been spotted I better return to the bottom of the ship. I was debating if I should share the candy with my sister. I gave my sister a piece of candy and explained how I got it. After that I sat down in the corner and took a nap. I woke up to someone screaming “Get your things, exit to the left.” I had really lost track of how long the ride actually

The sounds of gunfire were abundant like an intense hailstorm. The bullets crackled into the air, oblivious to their actual purpose. The fresh smell of new books, the milky smell of babies, the moldy smell of old houses, the smell of newly-mown summer grass…When you perceive a new scent, your brain automatically links it with an environment, a occasion, a person, an object, or a moment; when the same scent come to you again, you would conjure up the bounded memory.
