In 1814, Keats wrote his first poem that he titled “An Imitation to Spenser”. After this, Keats grudgingly continued studying medicine, and in 1816, he received his apothecary license. This allowed him to practice medicine as an apothecary, surgeon, and physician. However, Keats decided to become a poet instead of being a surgeon.
