Immediately Jim Carrey the famous comedian actor pops into your head. He has starred in a multitude of number 1 box office hits like Ace Ventura pet Detective, Dumb and Dumber, The
Mask and Liar Liar to name a few. The Golden Globe winner has became a household name despite the many setbacks in his life.
Jim Carrey path to success was not easy by any means. The beginning of his life had a rough start. James Eugene “Jim” Carrey was born in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada on January
17, 1962. He was the youngest of four children. In his early years he was described as quiet,

Jim quickly discovered he could make friends by making them laugh, which could be were it all started. One teacher described him as very disruptive, Jim also had a learning disability called dyslexia. So in order to succeed in school Jim developed phenomenal memory. Money was also another hurdle that Jim and his family had to face. His family lived in rough districts with lots of low rent townhomes. They also were homeless and lived out of a VW
Van for some of Jim's childhood. When Jim was a tenth grader he worked an 8 hour shift as a custodian at a factory after school to help his family with financial problems. By the age of 16
Jim called it quits with his high school education. Jim did get his first spot doing stand-up at a
Toronto comedy club when he was just 15 years old.
The red carpet has not always been laid out in Jim’s adult years either. He faced many ups and down and failures along the way. Carrey threw himself into acting roles and initially it didn’t work out. He was heckled and booed of the stage at many of his stand up gigs.
