Dave Isay and Maya Millett compiled interviews between people, which created Callings: The Purpose and Passion of Work to display the multitude of ways a person can discover meaning in their professional lives. These stories exhibit diverse circumstances, allowing readers to find relatable stories and draw connections relevant to their lives. For myself, the stories of Actor Ricardo Pitts-Wiley and Policewoman Pat Hays stand out and gift me with insight into my own career choices. By following his heart and becoming an actor, Ricardo Pitts-Wiley takes a risk. Acting is a profession known for having low pay and employment, but after stepping on stage in his junior year performance, he knows he must continue down this road (94). Taking his chance, Ricardo spends a year attempting to find employment as an actor, eventually securing a job with a company. Both of these environments involve numerous team projects, so project managers distribute work among workers. Like Ricardo, I need to accept some people will be superior in certain areas than me, but their strengths will not make my specialties any less vital. Collaboration is key in creative careers, a conclusion upon which Ricardo eventually came. Additionally, while not specifically identified, acting is extremely different from a traditional office setting. Knowing myself, I cannot have a desk job; the monotony of working is incompatible with my personality. Previously, I was employed at a library but quit because the daily routine of shelving books was incredibly tedious. From what I know about the film industry, the type of work emphasized in the post-production of film would satiate my need for a creative work
