Furthermore the author gives us a glimpse into Abigail 's first plan to get kill off Goody Proctor so it is not hard to infer how willing she will go to make John hers which we can assume is how she came up with her second excuse/plan to make Elizabeth gone once her first idea failed. In most people 's opinion you’ve got to be really desperate or committed to something, if you can accuse an innocent person of witchcraft knowing what will most likely happen to that person and don 't feel an ounce of remorse for what you have done. Proving Abigail doesn’t care what happens to anyone as long as in the end she gets John Proctor. Not to mention no one had any suspicions of witchcraft in Salem until after the girls danced in the woods and Betty and Ruth fell “ill”.

The Crucible by Arthur Miller demonstrates how no man is perfect and we all make mistakes but it is not too late to own up to your actions and stand up for what we believe is right as shown through John Proctor. As we see through Abigail Williams is how one bad action can domino into deadly consequences of innocent people taking the fall for your actions, once you lie you keep digging yourself deeper and deeper into desperation until you are grasping at straws to justify yourself what you’re doing is right. It is always better to come clean or tell the truth for the sake of others and so your conscience is cleared of all
