Is Google Making Us Stupid? Is google truly making us stupid? For such a long time, there was no technology to keep people busy, so they resorted to reading. Back in the day, the invention of paper was a technological breakthrough. People could finally write down their ideas, and then show someone else. Paper then turned into books, which turned into newspapers. Now a days you see everyone texting. Who reads novels anymore? Evolving books are making paper obsolete and changing the way we read. Google is not making us stupid, the internet is robbing us of the knowledge we once received from reading books. Reading is not a tool that you are equipped with when you are born. When you were young you had be taught how to read. "The deep reading that used to come naturally has become a struggle,” Carr explains. Due to technology advancing, books are slowly vanishing, leaving reading to disappear. Twenty years ago, the technology we have today was nonexistent, so people read.
