The case study focuses and discusses the cultural values and protective nature people feel towards their culture. For example both the Tremblay as well as the Lopez family keep their native languages of Spanish and French for the inherent cultural values it helps preserve and keeps. This is supported in the quote “The Tremblay and Lopez families… continue to speak their languages… they believe… it is important… in retaining and enhancing their cultural heritage” This quote supports my claim as it is explicitly stated that the reason the families support their language is due to the cultural values of such language. However, currently many cultures have faced the globalization effects of english as well as almost every other cultural change; as well as many people do not like the globalization of popular culture. This causes people to revolt but in lesser ways. A main way to revolt is to keep the local languages. This is done by reviving old cultures as well as preserving the old culture. There are many different languages which have been revived; such as Hebrew. As well as many different languages which have been preserved such as Celtic. However, there are also thousands of languages which have succumbed to the populous idea of culture and have adopted english as either a main language, or a combination of local languages. This demonization of the globalization of english as seen throughout many stubborn local cultures, as well as the countless examples of this happening is the root cause of people keeping their mother language.
