Society today is no better than what it was back then. Yes, some things have improved, but people’s thoughts and actions are still the same. People have the same views that if one person does something bad, then all of a certain race, religion, or gender is the same. Right now, sexism is a big one in our country. Sexism is prejudice, stereotyping, or discrimination, typically against women on the basis of sex. Men still believe that they are superior to women and our new president, Mr. Donald Trump, has this mind set. There are still more men in politics than there are women. As I was reading Margaret Atwood’s short story, I found a sexist aspect that people use others just for sex. This lead to many negative outcomes in just a few of the endings. Although, through Deborah Tannen’s reading, she explains the many reasons why opposite sexes clash and have disagreements. She teaches you how they communicate and view different things. Women are also paid less than men for doing the exact same job and are still not seen as equal to men. All in all, sexism still exists today whether it is within bed partners, viewpoints, communication, wages, or politics. To begin, Atwood writes a series of endings in relationships in her short story “Happy Endings”. The first story (A), is more like a fairy tale ending because the story never shows that the couple had any kind of troubles in their relationship.
