Human trafficking is a global occurrence that establishes in the form of sex and labor trafficking. It is a lucrative industry and is second to only drug trafficking as the most profitable illegal industry in the world. What is human trafficking? Commonly, human trafficking is referred to as “modern-day slavery” which is the trade of humans for “purpose of sexual slavery, forced labor or commercial sexual exploitation for the trafficker or others” (Wikipedia). Human trafficking often involves school aged children, who are not living with their parents. Children who do not have families are often vulnerable to coerced labor exploitation, domestic servitude, or commercial sexual exploitation. Human trafficking is not just an epidemic globally, but child sex trafficking and labor trafficking is sweeping the streets of United States. Surprisingly, research has shown that the United States is one of the top ten destinations in the world for human trafficking, as well for child sex trafficking and labor trafficking. Child sex trafficking is a horrible crime that it is a major violation of the child’s human rights. It is a global underground problem, it is not happening in the uncivilized countries, but civilized countries as well. Very few victims of trafficking escape from vicious crime.
