Alexander kept pushing into Afghanistan and Northern India, he wanted to keep going, but his troops wouldn’t have it. (Williams) Alexander died of an early death when he went back to Babylon. He died after a night of drinking, he became ill and he developed a fever and he slipped into a coma, later died quietly. His empire did not last too long after his death, but his campaign created a permanent change. Western Civilization transitioned to the Hellenistic era and leadership went from the Greeks to the Romans. (Frankforter & Spellman, 125) Alexander the Great left a great impact and laid foundations for the Hellenistic World. However, the world would not have been impacted by Alexander if he would not have become king. For one I think Greek culture would be weak because Alexander wouldn’t have conquered all the land he did when he was king. That would leave Greek culture not being so widespread. He would have never succeeded his dream of one world. Also Alexander laid down the foundation for Hellenistic world, so if he was not king, he couldn’t have done that.
