Healthy Families Act Case Study

On September 10th, 2014 the Governor of California passed the Healthy Families Act which requires all employees to start providing a specified amount of paid sick days to all employees starting July 1st, 2015. The district manager attended informational seminars with state representatives in order to understand the new law and ascertain what TTBS needed to do to be compliant with the law. As of July 1st, 2015 TTBS started to offer paid sick leave in accordance with this act. This was done by taking away 3 paid time off days and offering 3 paid sick leave days that do not accrue from year to year. However, it is believed that when sick days come close to expiring every year that many employees will all call in sick in a short period of time
