Health effects of processed food
A lot of it contains a lot of sugar and it can have devastating effects on the human metabolism. “It can lead to insulin resistance, high triglycerides, increased fat accumulation in the liver and abdominal cavity.”
“Sugar consumption is strongly associated with some of the world’s leading killers” which are heart disease, diabetes, obesity, and cancer. People are putting massive amounts of sugar into their body just by consuming processed food or drinks alone.
“Hyper Rewarding”
“Processed foods are hyper rewarding and lead to overconsumption.” A human’s appetite gravitates more towards foods that are sweet, salty, and fatty. That is because the human brain knows what foods contain energy and nutrients they need to survive. Processed food is so rewarding to the human brain that it affects the thoughts and behavior, which makes humans eat more until they become sick.
Food manufacturers spend massive amounts of money and resources to make their food as rewarding as possible to the human brain which causes overconsumption.
Real vs. Processed food
Most foods are processed in some way or form, for example apples are cut from trees, butter is cream separated from the milk and churned, ground beef is grounded in a machine.
Mechanical processing and chemical processing are two different things. “If it’s a single ingredient with no added chemicals, then it doesn’t matter if it’s been ground or put into a jar. It’s still real food.”…
