As Therapists we are trained to help clients find solutions to solve their problem. We do not want to make our clients dependent upon us by making decisions for them. As the therapist, it is important that we are aware of our cultural differences and values as compared to our clients. Taking care not to force our beliefs onto our clients but rather respect the differences and do our best to become knowledgeable about our client's cultural norms to aid them in making the best decision that effectively meet their needs.
