With their new tactics the Nazis were able to annihilate the defenses built up in France rather quickly. The new tactics greatly aided Germany, but they would have been unsuccessful if Denmark, Netherlands, and Belgium were able to hold out against Hitler’s forces. In order to avoid complete annihilation Brittan managed to evacuate 338,000 troops. France later surrendered allowing for Germany to take over Western Europe in just a few months. Luckily the United States sent supplies to aid Brittan in defending their home country.
Hitler betrayed the Soviet Union and invaded them despite the pact that they had. Not only were soldiers sent to invade the USSR, but also Einsatzgruppen, extermination units, that were meant to go through and kill the undesirables. This initially started the Holocaust. At first they were just gathering and shooting the victims of this systematic genocide. Eventually they built concentration camp that were able to kill several thousand people a day. Some of the most well-known civil rights activists include Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X and Rosa Parks, but there were many others who played a major role in achieving equality for all such as Thurgood Marshall.
Born in July of 1908 Thurgood Marshall grew to become the quarter back of the civil rights movement. Paving the way for the more well-known Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X. He won cases such as Topeka’s Brown Versus Board of Education ruling that separate, but equal was really separate but, not equal.
As time progressed Thurgood Marshall started to take an interest in law. In order for him to pursue his dream he would have to overcome many difficulties. Despite being an above average student, he was very mischievous. Thurgood Marshall would frequently have to memorize parts of the United States Constitution. Accomplishing what very few have done before, memorizing the entire Constitution was one of Marshall’s greatest high school achievements.
