My objective to obtaining my professional and personal goals is to increase my knowledge through education and work experience and steps that I will need to take to obtain my goals. In this paper I will discuss skills that I need to obtain and milestones I need to achieve, barriers I need to overcome, and time management strategies that I will need to work on. By obtaining my Bachelor’s degree I will not only fulfill my long-term personal goal but also my short-term professional goal. In reaching these goals I will complete my short-term professional goal and be one step closer to fulfilling my long-term professional goal of becoming a clinical instructor.

By using the resources that UPOX offers I will be able to sharpen my studying skills. A few of the resources I believe I will be using are the strategies for teamwork and to learn from the online workshops. Leadership skills can be developed through formal training and should take place before you enter a leadership role (Kalargyrou, Pescosolido, & Kalargiros, 2012, p. 39). According to a study the most important individual leadership skill is communication and the method of communication depends on the audience (Kalargyrou, Pescosolido, & Kalargiros, 2012, p. 39). Leadership skills and using effective communication skills are a few skills that I will need to develop to reach my goals. I plan to develop these skills by being a team leader in our group projects and effectively using good communication and asking for feedback in how I am doing as a leader. Teaching is another skill I need to develop. Developing teaching skills for adults will not only come from my experience as a nurse and teaching patients about how to manage his or her conditions or medications but also from learning through working as a preceptor to students in the hospital setting. I will also develop my communication skills by teaching and being a preceptor to students. Skills I will need to maintain are my Registered nurse license, my Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certificate and my National Institutes of Health Stoke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
