In today’s culture some individuals may find it challenging to associate and connect Bible stories with tales from other cultures. But in a comparison of the Scriptural book of Genesis with the Epic of Gilgamesh, numerous similarities propose that the same sort of divine searching inspired the work of both compositions. It seems as if both cultures had a concern for the livelihood of human life. There are numerous connections as well as dissimilarities in the the Epic of Gilgamesh and the Book of Genesis from The Bible. The way one reacts to a tough situation delivers an understanding into that person’s views. Noah, from Genesis, and Utnapishtim, from The Epic of Gilgamesh run into comparable trials, but do not have equal responses to the matters.
Noah and Utnapishtim must deal with the impossibility of life’s ultimate death. Both stories start by presenting the protagonists, Utnapishtim and Noah; they were reflected as righteous and followers of their God(s). The first connection that we can state would be the creation of man. In the Bible God created man from the earth, “In the beginning God created the Heaven and the Earth”. Utnapishtim’s boat was two hundred feet tall, with six stories in the shape of a cube. Noah’s ark was three stories tall and thirty cubits high and was built with more of a rectangular figure. Both boats were instructed to have one door, one window and were to be sealed with pitch. The men were also instructed to carry a pair of every species of animal aboard the ship with them. Utnapishtim begins to load his boat with material things such as gold and all of his other earthly possessions, whereas Noah put his faith in God and did not load anything onto his ark that was not considered vital for his and his family’s
