Evaluate God 's mercy in relation to his response to humanity using the events and characters of Genesis and Jonah. To evaluate character and events of Genesis and Jonah pertaining God’s mercy on relations on his response to humanity for his people. These two books of Genesis and Jonah gives us examples how humanity change when Adam and Eve cast the first Sin in Genesis 3, however in Genesis 2 God gave humanity a chance by providing them everything they needed in the Garden of Eden. Jonah disobeyed God until he realize God has a greater purpose for him. First, I will explain why Adam and Eve is an important character about humanity and God’s Mercy in Genesis. Cain is the son of Adam and Eve, however he falls jealous of Abel murdering his brother. Sins has befallen humanity in just one short period, which leads to the most important event, Noah and the flood. The flood is signifies humanity has run its course of hate, corruption and wickedness has the world become. God looked on the earth, and behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh is corrupted their way upon the earth. Then God said to Noah, “The end of all flesh has come before Me; for the earth is filled with violence because of them; and behold, I am about to destroy them (Genesis 6:12-13, NASB). God flooded the earth for hundreds of years for the wickedness of man had corrupted the earth, therefore God re-set time by declaring that he will not flood the earth again. The significance of the rainbow declares God’s covenant and men water to flood to destroy flesh. And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and never again shall the water become a flood to destroy all flesh (Genesis 9: 15, NASB). The last event and character are the people of Babel who were prideful and arrogant. They believe reaching the heavens to reach God, however it was more about them than God. Jonah is a prophet during the Northern kingdom of Israel. I have mention characters Genesis from Adam and Eve to Noah on humanity by God’s reaction for the fall of man because of sin. Jonah, chosen by God to preach to Nineveh about the wickedness has come before me. Jonah was following his own intuition and discretion on the path he wants to lead. However, he did not foresee the consequences following your decision over God’s decision for you. God commanded Jonah was clear--- “Go to the Great city of Nineveh and preach against it, because of the wickedness has come up before me (Jonah 1:2, NASB). Given the condition, Jonah disobeyed God calling persisting to Tarshish. As soon as jump from the ship, the storm stops and then he was swollen by the fish. When he was swallow by the fish Jonah prayed then fish vomit him up. This is significant because he began following God orders to preach to Nineveh.
