Germany is located in Europe and is surround by many countries. France, Belgium, Poland Czech Republic, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Netherlands and Denmark all surround Germany. Germany is surrounded by three bodies of water which include the Baltic Sea, the North Sea and the English Channel. The North Sea is the biggest body of water that surrounds Germany. Berlin being the capital of Germany is a bustling city but was not always the Berlin Wall, divided Germany in two halves, East Germany and West Germany, from 1961 until 1989. West Germany was free Germany which the Allied powers occupied. East Germany is where the communist party, the United Socialist Soviet Republic (USSR), occupied the city. Many people were killed trying to cross over the wall into West Germany. Some of the known landmarks are The Brandenburg Gate, the Berlin wall and Neuschwanstein. Germany has a lot of very known major cities, which include Berlin, Cologne, Hamburg, and Munich. he German empire dates all the way back to the first century B.C and was comprised of Germanic and Frankish Tribes. It was not until 1871 that Germany actually became a nation. Years later two wars plagued the country. World War I, also known as the Great War, started when Archduke Ferdinand was assonated. The German government wanted war so they formed an alliance with the Ottoman Empire, Austria-Hungary, and Bulgaria, which formed the Central Powers.
