Being enlightened means to be smart or wise. Genghis Khan was a very intelligent army leader. He had some of the best fighting tactics. He used them to defeat enemies, and they were all accurate. One strategy was called the spy networks. These people spent months spying on the people before they attacked them. While spying on them, they found escape routes, supply resources, and basically everything and everyone that they would be up against. This strategy helped them be prepared ahead of time for anything that could result in their failure. The would also have an idea of what to do if something went wrong during their attack. Another battle strategy that they used was called coordinated attacks. There were several different attacks that they would use. These included hit-and-run, wave attacks, and ambushes. The attack that was the most effective was the feigned retreat. His army would fake like the were going to retreat, or leave the battle, and then turn back around and fight the enemies. This technique caught the enemies off guard, making them think that they were leaving. The Mongols probably couldn’t have won their many battles if it wasn’t for these battle tactics. Genghis Khan and his army wiped out 11% of the world’s population. When he was 10 years old, he killed his older half-brother for not sharing the food that he had gathered. One time one of his men got killed, and he went out and killed an entire empire. He spared no one or nothing, not even the animals. All of the skeletons of those who died were stacked in pyramid mounds. Another time, he defeated the Russian army, which was four times the size of his army. All of the people who had survived had no choice but to surrender. They were killed by being aid under a wooden platform. The Mongols then danced and feasted on top of it. People were terrified of Khan. Some women would take their own lives when they heard that they were being invaded by the Mongols. They would rather take their own lives than have to be slaughtered by him and his army. At his funeral, all of the guests that came were executed. This was so that they could keep the burial location as a secret. He didn’t want anyone to know any information about him. No one ,after his time, really knows what he actually looked like. All the images you see today are what people assumed he looked like. Even some of the most cruel people on earth are enlightened. Crooked people and thieves have to be wise in order to get away with all the things that they do. Genghis Khan might have been a bad person, but I believe that he should be considered
