Regret is feeling sad or disappointed in something that has happened in the past. It can be a negative feeling about actions that have been made and blaming one’s self on something that was done previously. It is thinking about past events and things one’s self did that they wish have been different or changed for the better or even the worse. It is important to know that taking actions to prevent regret in the future will one’s self in the long run. Brother and Doodle were going out to Horsehead Landing after dinner to go practice swimming to prepare for school. A storm was approaching and lightning was near them so they were running to get home. Doodle fell behind and he tried calling for brother's help but brother completely ignored him and kept on running. He left his crippled brother behind in a storm and was being selfish and only tried to save himself (Hurst 353). This proves how cruel brother was to his younger crippled brother. Brother always put his needs and desires before someone’s, who needed it much more than he did. Doodle deserved love, respect and attention from his brother who was not only ashamed of Doodle but also cruel to him. Doodle was obviously in need of help if he fell to the ground and yelling for his brother’s help but brother was so cruel, that he let Doodle to lay there and suffer.
