Once Rainsford is proposed the chance to ‘hunt’ men, he is revolted at the thought of hunting men for sport. After Sanger is offered the opportunity to hunt men, he is disgusted, saying how it all is a “grisly joke” (Connell 10). In essence, while eating dinner with Zaroff, Sanger learns of the general’s new animal he had been boasting about. Obviously, he is completely appalled at the thought of such a horrid thing. After doing further research and examination of Robert William Pickton and his background, I have reason to believe that his childhood and the actions of those around him as he was growing up played a strong role in his mental and social development and his future behaviours leading up to the murders. Robert Pickton's mother often showed no remorse for taking or losing the life of any creature, including humans, an example of this was when his mother rolled a 14 year old car crash victim into a water filled ditch instead of attempting to provide medical attention. This may have compelled Pickton into believing that death and killing really were 'no big deal', which would have helped him be so capable of taking human life with what seemed to be minimal remorse. His mother was also quite strict throughout the period of time Pickton spent growing up and at one point sent her son's pet calf to slaughter, which I believe could have started an anger deep inside Pickton causing a resentment towards women that was never resolved and may have even grown and worsened over the years.…

Even though Danforth may have done this, he should be considered innocent because of the false accusations the people made him believe. Considering there was a lot of false accusations and misconceptions, he should not be thought of as a false accuser; he may have gotten confused with all of the information that was being presented during the trials. In The Crucible, Abigail and the girls are to blame because they have all presented different information, causing confusion in the proceedings to occur.…

As John Morrison exclaimed,“It should be clear that the death penalty does just the opposite of promoting decency and respect for life... It can never be applied fairly.” Since the mid nineteenth century, inmates on death row have been murdered by a plethora of gruesome methods, such as venomous lethal injections, gas chambers, and electrocution. According to the Death Penalty Information Center, there have been 1,413 executions in the United States from 1976 to the present. Although the number of death penalty verdicts are decreasing, flaws in the American judicial system have caused an increase in the amount of punishing wrongfully accused suspects to the death penalty.…

In 2003, a German citizen, Armin Meiwes appeared in court for his crimes of murder and cannibalism. Although Mr. Meiwes confessed to these crimes, the case was not as straightforward as it sounds. The major twist to the story is that the victim in this instance, Bernd-Jurgen Brandes, willingly volunteered to take part in these gruesome acts. This case threw the German legal system for a loop. While the prosecution argued that since Mr. Meiwes killed a man and then proceeded to consume the victim over a period of time, he should be convicted of murder.…
