“Tonight, we will hunt- you and I (Page 228).” The title of the story is “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell. My first paragraph will explain how Zaroff, one of the main characters is adventurous. The second paragraph is going to explain how I think Zaroff is talented. Lastly, my third paragraph will explain why I think Zaroff is harsh. “Hunting tigers ceased to interest me some years ago (page 222).” First i'm going to explain how I think Zaroff was an adventurous person in the story. He is so good at hunting that he put humans on the island to hunt because they are the only thing that can think and reason. Zaroff knows everything there is to know about hunting. While Zaroff and Rainsford are hunting, Rainsford hides in a tree. Zaroff is so adventurous that he knows Rainsford is up there, but leaves him alone because he wants a …show more content…
Zaroff said that the cape buffalo “Hurled me against a tree” but he still has its head hanging on his wall from where he won the fight. Another reason why I think Zaroff is talented is because he can't hunt animals anymore because they're too easy for him to hunt which leads me to my next topic. Topic three I think Zaroff is a harsh individual. “I never joke about hunting. I needed a new animal. I found one.”-Zaroff “Hunting? What you speak of is murder (page 225).” Zaroff thought that hunting was becoming boring to him because it was too easy for him.
What he did to resolve this problem was he stocked his island with human beings because he wanted a challenge. The way Zaroff looked at it, what he was doing wasn't harsh because he gave them electricity, food, water, and a place to stay until he wanted to hunt. If they refused to hunt with him, he turned them over to Ivan to be tortured. These are reasons why I feel Zaroff is a harsh

One of the most prominent motifs throughout Richard Connell’s The Most Dangerous Game is General Zaroff’s smile and laughter. This motif serves two purposes in the passage. First, it reveals the general’s true nature. His smile, described as showing “pointed teeth”, is in stark contrast with the rest of his face, which is described as “singularly handsome”. Zaroff’s face can be seen as a representation of his entire person.…

“The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell, “Dulce ET Decorum Est” by Wilfred Owen, and “Mirror” by Sylvia Plath all share common themes. These stories all share a common theme of disillusionment, where everything is not as it appears to be. “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell begins with two hunting partners Rainsford, the main character, and Wilson talking on a boat. While speaking on the boat Wilson asks Rainsford how he thinks the jaguar feels while being hunted. Rainsford quickly dismisses this notion by commenting that he doesn't care how the jaguar feels while being hunted.…

Hunting has been around since the dawn of time. Having transformed from a vital means of survival to a sporting activity, people have long debated both sides of the issue. While some view hunting as a righteous action, others despise the deed. The argument for hunting as an admirable or distasteful act is still relevant to present society. As seen in the writings of Rick Bass and Robert G. Schreiner through many comparisons and differences, imagery, deeper meanings, stances, and views, the debate of hunting is a controversial matter.…

"I had to invent a new animal to hunt," he said” (69) In this quote Zaroff speaks of “inventing a new animal” this can be perceived as Zaroff creating a new animal, or simply hunting an animal that has never been previously hunted. Therefore the reader feels a sense of fear or suspense as to what exactly this “animal” is. Furthermore the use of the term animal appears to be held very loosely, this raises the question of; Is this really an animal or something more?…
