The author used the outburst of NFL football player Richard Sherman in the 2014 football game against the San Francisco 49ers. News reporter’s reactions and commentaries used racist reactions that called him names, including “thug” and that his interview could be comprehended as “thuggish.” Sherman later addresses the media apologizing for his demeanor.
