There is no excuse for abusing those who love you. There is no excuse for pushing a mentally handicapped person over the edge. Narcissism and selfishness often times go hand in hand with abusers. Jenny is a textbook narcissist who loves being in control. While her actions may be subtle and may be prolonged, she ruined Forrest’s life. He did amazing things, he met a Beatle, he went to a world ping-pong tournament, he was and All-American Football player, among many other accomplishments. Jenny overshadows them and Forrest does not even realize his self worth because of her. The main reason psychological abuse goes on for so long, is that the victim often does not even comprehend what they are going through.. To abuse someone who is already not as psychologically developed as others is the lowest of lows. Jenny Curran-Gump made Forrest’s life that much worse and made his condition that much worse as well.
