Vampires come in many different shapes and sizes from F.Marion Crawford’s For the Blood is the Life to Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Even though there are characteristics that change from tale to tale there are many that are the same. Vampires no matter what story you hear, they are dark, malevolent creatures out for “blood”. They want to take control of their victims to make them weak and helpless so they will follow them and do all their biddings. They take their victims under their control by taking their blood to the point of near death. Vampires are night crawlers, who keep to the night and wait in dark remote places. When the vampire takes the blood of their victims to the point of near death, it makes the victim subservient to the vampire. There are serial killers that after they kill their victims drink their blood. A famous case that exhibited vampire like qualities was the Richard Chase case in 1977. Richard Chase was a serial killer that killed from 1977 to 1978 in Sacramento, CA. Richard Chase was known as the “Vampire of Sacramento”. Chase started his killings when he was young, killing animals. As he got older he moved to killing rabbits and according to Ramsland he would disembowel the rabbits, then at times he would eat their organs raw or he would put them into a blender with some of its blood to make a drink out of it. Chase would get the blood from many different animals, just about anything he could catch to dogs, rabbits, and even cats. Chase’s weird craving for blood grew as he got older, and since he moved out of his parents’ house. According to Ramsland, December 29th, 1977 was Chase's first murder. One of his first murders, where detectives believe he drank the blood of his victims was the murder of Teresa Wallin. Ramsland stated that Chase entered the house through the front door, because it was unlocked. He met her and shot her three times with a .22 pistol. At the crime scene there was a used container that had blood stains on it, there were also blood stains on the floor, where they believe
