By the effort and hard work Charlie put into the process, one can instantly tell that Charlie was very motivated to becoming smart. “I told them becaus all my life I wantid to be smart and not dumb. But its very hard to be smart” (Keyes 184). Charlie’s lifelong dream was to be intelligent and fit in with society. From Charlie’s scientific discovery, it was revealed that Charlie might perhaps die since the lab mouse, Algernon, did. However, even if Charlie does die, he would have died achieving his dream.
