Film Analysis: All Quiet On The Western Front

The video talks about a 23 year old Cameroon native named Kingsley, who wants to migrate from Africa to Europe in hopes of a better life. He is a single young man moving from his poor home country for a professional job and to get an education. These are migration selectivity characteristics. Using 900 euros he collected from his parents and his savings, he travels by car, bus, and boat, and voluntarily migrates from Africa to his final destination of France. He is excited about his trip at first when he is smuggled across the Saharan desert from Nigeria to Morocco but realizes while traveling through the desert how getting to Europe might not be as easy as he thought. Kingsley doesn’t give up hope because of the pull factors of living in Europe that make it so appealing. Finally, he and fifteen other men got on a boat that could capsize at any moment and left the shores of Africa for Europe. When the boat had reached its carrying capacity, the Spanish Coast Guard found it. Kingsley and the other men were taken to mainland Spain and placed in detention for 30 days until being released. Kingsley called his friend from Cameroon who lived in France. He helped Kingsley get to France where he gets a job. The job is a lot of work and the pay is very little.
