Plastic bags provide many practical benefits for customers for carrying and transporting products such as lightweight, inexpensive and hygiene. However, they are also the double-edged swords as they pose a threat to the environment including water contamination and air pollution. This essay will analyze the issue of excessive consumption of plastic bags in terms of my daily life, provide explanations for the impact of this issue and offer my personal policy that I plan to follow during the semester. Then it will evaluate the outcome of my personal policy and whether this policy could be implemented successfully in the future.

Plastic bags can be get from supermarkets, open-air markets and shops easily so that the quantity of plastic bags used in retail is large every day. Take an example of me, I go to Coles four times a week and I need minimum two plastic bags for one purchase, which means I need at least eight plastic bags every week. I put all my plastic bags in a cabinet and these plastic bags are used as rubbish bags. One day, I wanted to put the plastic bags that I get from Coles to the cabinet. When I opened the cabinet, I found it was full of plastic bags and I was still putting several plastic bags into it. That moment made me realize that I had used too many plastic bags. Although I stored them for reuse, the excessive consumption of plastic bags was not sustainable. I believe that many people are facing the same problem as me, which is having too many plastic…
