This can be seen in several ways, but in different kinds of foods that we can relate. There are a lot of examples with food that we can relate to with false consensus. Different cultures have different authentic food, so others may like to eat another authentic dish, while others may not enjoy it as much as you do. For instance, I like to eat Italian food, which contains pasta and garlic bread etc. So if I had guest coming over I would assume they would like to eat the same authentic dish as me, so I would take them to the restaurant for that kind of entrée. But it turns out that they don’t like Italian food, so what happened was overestimating with people. False consensus is natural thing I feel like and it’s hard to control it in the long term. Our bodies are used to what we do, so when involve other people it automatically assumes whatever we do, others will enjoy to the same thing as us, which in reality its false. Also assuming that others might share the same qualities as you. Another example of over-estimating could be drinking black coffee, my family drinks black coffee on a regular bases so one day when I was with my family they all ordered black coffee to drink, but since I was not a coffee drinker, I had to get something else rather than the majority. A lot of adults and young adults use performance-enhancing drugs to succeed in an event to win compared to non-performance-enhancing drugs (PED). Winning can be done in a lot of ways, not only from playing sports but it can be shown in family and amongst friends. In the text, it mentions how PED, such as anabolic-androgenic steroids also known as AAS and human growth hormones (HGH), and how athletes are intentioned by using it more to come in content of “illicit drugs”, which are drugs that are illegal to make, sell or use. This is a example of cocaine, ecstasy, cannabis, heroin and amphetamines ( Dunn, Thomas, Swift and Buns, 2012, p.28). Adding on more, it also stated that other athletes engaging in these kinds of drugs, others assume that if they take the same illicit drugs as them, they could succeed to win (Dunn et al., 2012) False consensus effect plays a role, since we think that if we do something for example taking drugs to achieve something, others will achieve it the same way as us. I feel like, as the world expands and new technology comes its getting easier to detect these drugs off, rather the past were we did not have the tools to test out blood from the
