As a result, ever since he was young, he was taken as someone would could not play ball. Even when Jeremy had strong performances, people still doubted him. He was always looked as the underdog story even when he was the best player in his high school team in Palo Alto, California. Things took a turn for the worse when he decided to continue playing basketball in college. Although Jeremy made it into Harvard, a prestigious school known all over the world, he was still troubled by many problems simply because of his racial background. In an interview, Lin stated "Pretty much anything you could think of, from stereotypical Asian food, making fun of my complexion, my skin color or the way Asians look. Pretty much everything." Despite the negativity that Jeremy was receiving, he still fought for what he believed in, and what he loved. Even after his strong performance in his Harvard years, Jeremy still went un-drafted the following draft, and this marked the beginning of the underdog story.
On February 2012, Sports Illustrated portrayed Jeremy Lin taking on the whole of Los Angeles Lakers which includes decade defining players such as Kobe Bryant.
