In Canada Women’s right has been improved enormously. After WWII due to their participation in war, women were starting to be treated more fairly than before, but not equally as men. There were many factors that oppressed women in their daily life. Since the 1950s, many individuals and groups of women’s fought to improve women equal rights and attempt to involve in social, environmental and political roles equivalent to men. In the last 60 years, Canada has taken steps to improve women’s right; introducing the equal pay for equal work Act, allowing women to participate and have a high position in politics, and one of the biggest steps Canada has taken to improve women’s right is included equal treatment for men and women in The Charter Rights and Freedom.
For many years, men were looked as the provider for their families therefore even though they had the same job as women it was common for them to get paid more than women. After World War II Canada began to support, protect human rights movement and made a lot of contribution in women’s right. In 1956, the government decided to pass an Act to promote equal pay for female employees. These laws prohibited employers from paying women less than men for doing

In 1982 Women finally became equal to men under the law, when Canada enacted the Charter Rights and Freedom. Which includes section 15-Equality Rights, that states every individual is equal before and under the law and has the right to the equal protection and equal benefit of the law without discrimination and, in particular, without discrimination based on race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, sex, age or mental or physical disability(Section 15 - Equality Rights).
