The fashion industry has become the most notorious serial killer across the planet. In the last few decades the fashion industry has created a whirlwind effect. Suffocating the lives of innocent people and spitting them out in a damaged state, if lucky enough to make it out alive. The fashion industry has become the main enemy in the line of fire for activists on living a healthy lifestyle, due to the claim that the industry causes eating disorders. In the case of mental disorders, there is merit in the fashion industry as well as the activists claims, however the decision depends on the overall consumers opinion on the definition of eating disorders, the fashion industry’s standards and the effect the fashion industry has on the population 's health. Anorexia and Bulimia are eating disorders, the real confusion lies with body dysmorphia and if it is considered an eating disorder or disorder eating. The fashion industry claims that eating disorders are completely different from disordered eating. In contrast, activists believe that there is no difference between the two and the fashion industry is to blame. The fashion industry causes teeneagers and young adults to have unrealistic body images of themselves, causing body dysmorphia, leading to eating disorders.
