Addicts usually experience these terrible experiences because they try to stop using the drugs all together, which sends a total shock to their body systems. Another effect is that users of Marijuana and hallucinogenic drugs may experience flashbacks, and unwanted recurrences of the drug’s effects weeks or months after use (Drug Addiction). These flashbacks can be a memory of a past traumatic incident that is still prominent in the users subconscious. Another risk with using drugs like Marijuana is that drugs are not controlled, and can be “laced” with a number of other drugs that can result in death and other health problems. Lastly, when drug abusers keep using a drug their drug tolerance increases and they increase on the amounts of the drug they consume, which can cause more of damage to the addict. The next effects drugs can cause are upon the family of the addict. The users continuing use of the drug can affect their mood and performance that can lead to problems with the work performance or dismissal. Drug use can disrupt family life and create destructive patterns of codependency, that is the spouse of whole family, out of love or fear of consequences, inadvertently enables the user to continue using drugs by covering up, supplying money, or denying there is a problem (Drug Addiction).
