The reason why vampires are more popular in recent years is because it’s the creative inspiration that authors are taking with their character to grab their audiences attention. Before Twilight, it was known that vampires are nocturnal; they couldn’t go into the sun without dying. This conventional understanding did a 180 degree turn when we soon learned that Stephanie’s fictional vampire’s entire body sparkles like diamonds when exposed to the sun. It’s silly to think that vampires sparkle but for fan girls its eye candy.
Many vampire myths and legend have been around for centuries. A way to describe these early beings was evil; wholesome and modest. Authors began testing with a different kind of creature which soon expanded its popularity of vampires in our society. They designed tragic misfortune in a human-like creature that couldn’t fit into humanity in spite of its good intentions. Whether it is their incapability to appear in broad daylight, or their ethical struggle between a guilt-ridden conscience and a longing for blood, they are different from human beings despite their efforts to assimilate. This shows a vampire is doomed to everlasting pain
