Register to read the introduction… getting good grades, kid that touches the oven, texting and driving You might think that you can escape doing what God has called you to do, or that God won’t leave you with little choice by to obey sometimes. Not only did God pursue Jonah when he ran in the opposite direction of where God wanted him to go, He had a plan to get Jonah back to where he needed to be to complete the mission God called him to make. Reasons we might try to run away from Gods calling….wanting to do things their own way, too afraid to do what God says or thinking the job is too hard. Israel did not ask for God to adopt her so it is inappropriate to chastise her as a whore. Although always inappropriate to address someone as a whore, Israel never asked to be taken in as a special people for generations to come. However, some will argue against this as they asked for help. Despite the position one takes on this, it can be agreed upon that in the metaphor of an adopted child God used in His anger is quite shocking when paired with whore. Israel was promised to be a great nation back in Abraham’s time so the Israelites never had the chance to ask first if this was what they wanted.…

All you could hear as the days went by were enslaved people crying and getting whipped, just like him. There was no such thing as “freedom” in America during the 1800s. He felt every drop of blood, sweat, and tear that poured from his body.…

In Their Eyes Were Watching God, by Zora Neale Hurston, readers follow the point of view of Janie Crawford in the form of a flashback - starting from her childhood and going through her three marriages. The book begins with Janie telling her story to her best friend Pheoby Watson and ends with her reflecting on everything that has happened. Perhaps Janie Crawford did not achieve true love with Logan Killicks or Joe Starks, but she did with and after Tea Cake, which changed her by helping her find self-love, what kind of person she was, and who she wanted to be.…

The Divine command theory is a meta - ethical theory which states that an action is obligatory if and only if, it is commanded by God. In this essay, I will examine whether any form of divine command theory is defensible. In defence, I shall begin by looking at the modified theory as proposed by Robert Adams. Secondly, I will attempt to assess objections from Plato, Austin and Wainwright; before proceeding to evaluate whether these objections are successful in demeaning this theory. Let us take the modified version of the divine command theory , as proposed by Robert Adams (1987); in defence of the original theory.…
