In Laura Hillenbrand's book, Unbroken, she tells the amazing biography of Louis Zamperini’s journey. He grew up a troublemaker, his parents scared that he would have no future but his brother pete, the person louis looked up to the most, turned him in the right direction making him train for track because he was so good at running. He trained until he was good enough to compete in the Berlin Olympics in 1936 where he came in seventh place. He had his mind set on running in the 1940 games in Tokyo but unfortunately they got canceled due to the start of World War 2. Plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11) God had bigger plans for his destination even though his journey was full of suffering and hard times, He was always with Louis and knew he had big plans to inspire thousands of people later on in life. Louis had various journeys but some were not exactly physical. When he was in the war he developed a drinking problem to deal with the stress of the war and continued to drink when he finally got back home after all of the hard times he went though. Even earlier in his life he would sneak around with alcohol and cigarettes but he eventually remembered the promise he made to God on the raft where he would be faithful to God and give all his problems to Him and not conform to alcohol or drugs. Despite the type of journey Louis went though, he always stayed hopeful, “All I want to tell young people is that you're not going to be anything in life unless you learn to commit to a goal. You have to reach deep within yourself to see if you are willing to make the sacrifices.” (Louis Zamperini) He had a goal to stay alive and with his hard journey he had to make difficult sacrifices to stay alive but it was all worth it when he arrived at his
