We have natural instincts that keep us alive but can also get us into trouble if not managed well. We want to have our needs taken care of and will sometimes go to extremes to do so. Difficulties come so that we may grow and understand the world. As understanding is gained meaning can be made. Once meaning is made people can move toward thriving and getting where they are supposed to be. Schemas and modes are ways that help us understand and process life and the world. I believe a key difference between thrivers and survivors is perspective and how the presenting situation is perceived.
Researchers in Brazil used 97 that participants ages 18 to 29 who were diagnosed with depression, based on the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders IV (DSM-IV), to evaluate the effectiveness of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Narrative Cognitive Therapy (NCT) on biological rhythm, depression and anxiety.
