This essay will provide an account of my reflective practice as a member of an action learning set (ALS) group. It will offer an insight into the impact of effective communication, conflict management, decision making, working collaboratively, understanding the responsibilities and roles of leaders in the functioning of teams. This will be followed by team members providing support through contribution in their peers’ professional development in the workplace. A reflective model will be applied in demonstrating my knowledge of working within a team. A conclusion will then be provided, and recommendations made on action plans.

By not having been in a group setting with the chosen members, I was left anxious not knowing how I would carry out my assigned task. At the beginning of the meetings, it was evident that my communication was an issue. I ordinarily speak fast and therefore did not realize that it was an issue until my group members highlighted this to me. Moreover, my accent did not help matters either since it hampered how I articulated the information that was being conveyed. I used this feedback positively to ensure that I work on this aspect to make sure that I improve on it. I clarified issues with my colleagues to enable members to have a better understanding of what I was putting across.
