In this assignment, I aim to critically analyse different reflective models and theories. I will then apply one of these models or theories to my own professional development with the intention of recognising successes or failures and what direction I could take in the future as a result of this reflection. Reflection has been defined by many people over the years in different ways. What is understood about reflection and reflective practice is that it can be used by individuals to assist their professional practice by learning through experience and acting upon what has been learnt (Jasper 2013, p.1).
For the purpose of this assignment I shall be reflecting on my time spent as a one to one teaching assistant in a small, rural primary school setting. The British Educational Research Association (BERA) (2011) guidelines will be followed throughout.

We reflect on an experience so as to learn from that experience (Moon 2004, p.4), this is essential for professional development. By using reflective practice in your professional life, you will be constantly learning and adapting the way in which you work.
