Basically the cause of alienation is the capitalist economy. It rises in that field and then dominates every institutional sphere. Human beings are devalued in direct proportion to the increase of production, and become a commodity. This economic exploitation leads to alienation of men and women. In the workplace the feeling of alienation means that the individual has lost control over the process of production. This is particularly due to extreme specialization and bureaucratization, and works is no more a creative activity in which the worker feels self-expression but a mechanical function. Furthermore, alienation takes the form of dehumanization, and the individual no more feels that he or she is fully human, free to act and live.
The economic liberalization in a capitalist economy has created a hunger for entertainment among the growing middle class, and acted as the ballast for entertainment boom in India. Though necessarily alienated due to their values, these characters sail through the turmoil for a reasonable amount of time, until they realize that there is no point in continuing. Inflicted upon by the values of the film maker, these characters subtly stay aloof from the mainstream and establish a space outside the popular realm, which are applauded by the minority of the masses who thinks likewise. Thus by offering modest challenges to avenues of mass production and packaging, T V Chandran and his films stands up to tell the tales of the marginalized people, who necessarily don’t find representation
