So, they created many acts to tax random things. One of the first acts they made was the Sugar Act. It put taxes on molasses and sugar. The colonists weren’t very fond of this new law, so they began protesting. Not only did they put taxes on sugar and molasses, but also made an act called the Stamp Act. The Stamp Act made colonists get stamps along with paper as a way of raising tax money. All of these acts led to the Stamp Act Congress. These groups were called the daughters and sons of liberty. These groups did multiple protests in an attempt to get rid of all the sudden taxes. The sons of Liberty were a lot more violent with their protests, and would often threaten tax collectors. However, the Daughters of Liberty simply boycotted for their form of protest.
In 1765, the Quartering Act was made. The English government noticed uprisings, so they sent in soldiers to calm everybody down. They were being housed in colonists houses. However, the act didn’t work very well. In fact, the soldiers were forced to stay in their boats because the colonists were so defiant.
When english soldiers moved to Boston to stop protests, many arguments happened. The arguments weren't that bad at first. But one day, a fight between colonists and soldiers got pretty big. By the end of it all, 5 colonists were killed and 6 more injured. This was called the Boston Massacre.
Later on, more taxes were made. One of those taxes was the Tea act that taxed tea. Just like all the other acts, the colonists were not to happy about this and began doing protests.
