Once again Truman believes the diversity of social patterns change the social belief of the interest group. Truman evaluates the role of interest groups in four different roles. Truman assumes that man is a social animal and that man will only form because of social wants. Which creates the notion that interest groups only want power, a power of social views, members and other groups. The next theory was that many groups are politicized. This is the notion that the groups make claims to help or represent the government and not their interest. Creating the fact the group is a reflection of the government instead of the people. Olson believes that the pluralist theory isn’t always accurate. Olson established that groups only exist for the common good and self-interest. Olson believes Truman’s neglected the theory of “Free-riders”. Truman believes that everybody will fight for the same interest no matter what. While Olson believes that people will watch others chop their heads off and reek the benefits. It kind of like, watching someone else getting their hands dirty and the person with the clean hands say they created the masterpiece.
