Buettner believes a plant based diet is need for longevity because plants do not contain harsh supplements that harm the human body. People who rely less on technology such as cars assist themselves in the pursuit for longevity by keeping the body active. An addition to having a positive social life sums up Buentter’s longevity formula because it helps the spiritual and mental state for a person in search for longevity. Although America can adapt to this plant based diet, positive social life, and less usage of technology the diversity rapid growth and advancement of technology prevents America from being able to obtain longevity.

Poverty is the main reason for the decade of positive social life because it usual associates with negative areas, high crime rates as well as death rates. Unemployed man or female, single parents, and elderly people tend to be affiliated in poverty while some are placed in poverty not by choice but by nature or freak accidents that happen to people at random. For example, the nature disaster called Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, Spriggs (2006) stated “that poverty increased dramatically due to the disaster back in 2004” (p.14).
