According to Ehrenreich “the current recession is knocking down the working poor down a notch-from low-wage employment and inadequate housing toward erratic employment and no housing at all” (340). Bringing the working class of America to middle-class status would increase the way that poor families are able to live. It would decrease the struggles family face daily and allow families to pay their essential expenditures. Working individuals should be able to have a salary that would allow them to save money to invest in their futures. If nothing is done to improve the poverty that is around today, the cycle of poverty continues to repeat for many more generations. Dangerous neighborhoods may subject children of low-income families to violence that could lead to psychosocial issues. Exposure to violence can also predict cause violent conduct in youth which places them at an increased risk of injury or
