Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a genetic-disease that causes thick, sticky mucus to build up in the lungs, digestive tract, and continues throughout other areas of the body. Cystic fibrosis has signs and symptoms that differs, depending on how bad the disease affects someone. Cystic fibrosis varies through ages, it affects infants, teenagers, and young adults, but is mostly found in white people. Some symptoms are very salty-tasting skin, persistent coughing, at times with phlegm (a liquid secreted by the mucus produced by the respiratory system), frequent lung infections, wheezing or shortness of breath, bad growth and slow weight gain, in spite of a good appetite, frequent greasy, bulky stools or difficulty in bowel movements …show more content…
For Rob and Paulette Monteleone and their five kids, who were all infected with Cystic fibrosis it was easy, spending the summer surfing and taking the advantage of health benefits. Soon foundations, organizations and programs found out about the new discovery, and started trips to the ocean.
